Three years after unleashing their unique brand of progressive hard rock fury on their debut album Psychotic Symphony, Sons of Apollo are back in 2020 with their sophomore studio album, MMXX (aka 2020). According to drummer Mike Portnoy, the album follows “the same path as the debut…but we feel that it has come out stronger, simply because we know one another better.”
On tour around the world behind the eight tracks on MMXX, Sons of Apollo — Portnoy, keyboardist Derek Sherinian, bassist Billy Sheehan, guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, and singer Jeff Scott Solo — are taking the power of progressive hard rock to new heights with heavy riffs, epic themes, and a classic collective feel for young and old. Junkman recently chatted with singer Jeff Scott Soto on his Junkman Radio show about the band and the new album. Have a listen below.
