With the pandemic in the rearview mirror, 2024 proved to be a very active year for concerts. Of course, Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour was by far the highest grossing tour, but good old rock and roll still has a big hand in the game with successful tours tallied by the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul McCartney.
VintageRock.com correspondents attended and reviewed nearly 40 shows in 2024. After a bit of soul-searching and countless detours around elimination, we whittled it down to 10 shows that stuck out. And with that, we invite you to have a gander at the following in chronological order…
Flogging Molly’s
Shamrock Rebellion
March 16, 2024
Oak Canyon Park | Silverado, CA
The spacious grounds of Oak Canyon Park, a pleasant venue nestled in the Santa Ana Mountains of eastern Orange County was the site for the first date of Flogging Molly’s inaugural Shamrock Rebellion. As a pre-Saint Paddy’s Day beer and music festival, it was destined to be an all-out day of fun with a boat load of green-wearing people that thronged the grounds. The second and final date of Shamrock Rebellion would happen the next day in Las Vegas on St. Patrick’s Day. VintageRock.com was there to see four bands perform, but missed the free beer tasting with the brew supplied by the local breweries. Read more >

Greek Theatre | Los Angeles, CA
The iconic Greek Theatre in Los Angeles opened their 2024 season with a bang, as the Atlanta- based rockers The Black Crowes came to town and gave their audience a classic taste of rock and roll, on a chilly night in Griffith Park. Presented and promoted by Nederlander Concerts, the classic venue was sold out, and the excitement was buzzing amongst the faithful fans, who have been “wanting and waiting” for the band to return to the LA area for the first time since 2021. The Rolling Stones
April 28, 2024
NRG Stadium | Houston, TX
The entity known as “The World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” keeps rolling along. Celebrating over 60 years as a band and playing the first show of their 16-city Hackney Diamonds Tour, the Rolling Stones showed no signs of slowing down, as they rocked a sold-out NRG stadium in Houston Texas, with a tight, well-rehearsed, 18 song set, before an enthusiastic, all age crowd of fans. Dead & Company
June 20, 21 & 22, 2024
Sphere | Las Vegas, NV
“After this, I don’t know if I can ever go to another concert again…”
That was a sentiment I heard at least a half-dozen times over the three nights Dead & Company played Sphere in Las Vegas. It was the third and final weekend of June for the group’s summer-long residency that started in May (they still have July and August to go). In other words, we were near the halfway point of an eyes-and-ears all-in immersive production that fans will likely talk about for years to come. Whether or not, this will be the final concert for anyone is another conversation for another day, though it would certainly be a high note to go out on. Read more >
Sammy Hagar
The Best Of All Worlds Tour
August 19, 2024
Kia Forum | Los Angeles, CA
Sammy Hagar, the dynamic singer and businessman, is still having fun in his mid-seventies. Just like he did in the mid-seventies. His singing voice, as well as his infectious enthusiasm about everything he does, is a blessing in a sometimes negative field of the rock music genre for over 50 years. So many miserable types have come and gone in that time frame — too many to list — but Hagar has been a constant positive force, no matter what band he has had the pleasure of performing with. Iron Maiden and special guest The HU brought the goods to Las Vegas as part of “The Future Past Tour.” The HU, a Mongolian band known for their unique blend of traditional Mongolian instruments and rock music, opened the show. They recently paid tribute to Iron Maiden by recording a cover of “The Trooper,” which has been well-received by fans. Read more >
BEAT
October 6, 2024
Keswick Theatre | Glenside, PA
I’ll be honest… after witnessing in-person the BEAT quartet of Adrian Belew, Danny Carey, Tony Levin, and Steve Vai tear into tracks from the three of a perfect pair album lineup of King Crimson’s classic 1980s period, I gave serious thought to having this review be the following lyrics from the song “Indiscipline:”
“The more I look at BEAT, the more I like it.
I do think it’s good!
The fact is no matter how closely I study it,
No matter how I take it apart,
No matter how I break it down,
It remains consistent…
I wish you were here to see it!” Read more >
David Gilmour
October 29, 2024
Hollywood Bowl | Hollywood, CA
It seems in an instant, that the typical long summer season has finally turned to fall in Southern California. The glorious sunshine of the day turned into a cold and biting wind just as the darkness of night hit. On this night at the Hollywood Bowl, music fans were ready with beanies, blankets, and Patagonia puffy jackets. They were gathered here together to see David Gilmour, the voice and guitar of Pink Floyd, on the first of three sold-out nights at the famous concert venue behind his fifth studio album, Luck And Strange. The Allman Betts Family Revival

Ryman Auditorium | Nashville, TN
In December, most of the concerts in Nashville carry a holiday theme. However, another tradition around this time of the year is to celebrate the music of the Allman Brothers Band.
