Not only is this 500+ page book extraordinarily fascinating and wildly entertaining but the story of how Living The Beatles Legend: The Untold Story of Mal Evans came to be published reads like a detective story all on its own.

I have never read an account of the Beatles’ history this detailed and behind-the-scenes personal. Mal Evans was the Beatles’ long-time roadie, personal assistant, and devoted friend from the time of their lunch-time gigs at the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool. Evans became indispensable to the Fab Four throughout career. And he took notes about it all.

Working with full access to Evans’ unpublished archives — via his son Gary, who provides the intro and tells how the book came to be — and conducting new interviews, author Kenneth Womack puts us front and center of the action as Evans experienced it. What we find out along the way will blow you back on your heels…Beatles fan or not.

We are in good hands here with Womack. He has published countless books about The Beatles and has a host of other music and cultural writing credits to his name. Brought to life from his care and expert handling of Evans’ diaries and notebooks (and we are promised by Evans’ son that there is more coming), Womack has produced a truly fantastic read in Living The Beatles Legend: The Untold Story Of Mal Evans.
