The three-part video interview on this page features keyboard
wizard Keith Emerson, guitarist Marc Bonilla and conductor Terje Mikkelsen
chatting with Junkman (intrepid Vintage Rock correspondent and KNAC.com DJ) about
Three Fates Project
, which has been described as a “hybrid of orchestral
and rock.” Keith Emerson gets an opportunity to combine some of the music he originally recorded with Emerson, Lake & Palmer
with a 70-piece orchestra and Marc Bonilla’s spell-binding guitar work.

Part 1

Three Fates Project includes orchestral arrangements
of Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s “The Endless Enigma,” “Tarkus” and “Abaddon’s
Bolero.” There are also takes on Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare For The Common Man”
and Alberto Ginastera’s “Malambo.” Marc Bonilla’s “American Matador” combines
a monumental orchestral lift to the guitarist’s bag of tricks. There are even some new compositions:
Emerson’s “After All Of This,” and Bonilla’s “Walking Distance” and “The Mourning Sun.”

Part 2

Recorded in Munich and Los Angeles over a nine-month period
starting in the summer of 2011, Three Fates Project also
features the 70-piece Münchner Rundfunkorchester conducted by world-reknown
Maestro Terje Mikkelsen, along with the Keith Emerson Band featuring bassist
Travis Davis and drummer Troy Luccketta from Tesla. It was a real pleasure
for Vintage Rock to sit down on a pleasant Sunday afternoon with these three gentlemen
and talk about this project. We hope you enjoy the interview as much as we did.
