Jimmy Page By Jimmy Page
Jimmy Page By Jimmy Page was first released as a signed, limited edition. Now, as an open release, this hardcore treat is available for the eyes of rock and roll fans everywhere. With a smidgen of text in total, this book is a visual bio of one of rock and roll’s greatest guitarists. For fans of Page, Led Zeppelin, and rock and roll, it doesn’t get much better than what Page has collected here.
We get early pics of Page and his various bands before his professional career took off. These are photos of bands that never made it beyond English school dances. There’s some super shots of Page working in the studio as a session musician, back when he started to earn his living from music. Of course, there are shots of him with the Yardbirds, too. Along the way, you can read Page’s commentary in the captions, although he mostly lets the pictures tell the story.
The bulk of the book comprises Led Zeppelin photos, on stage and off. For this a fan has to be truly thankful because there are some rarities that nobody but Page could have collected in just this way. There are tons of live shots, photos of Headley Grange, where Zeppelin recorded, along with candid backstage and in-studio snaps. There are even select shots from the 2007 Led Zepplin reunion at London’s 02.
More recent photos include shots of Page playing the Olympics closing ceremony with singer Leona Lewis in 2008, stills from the It Might Get Loud film, even some of him receiving his Honorary Doctorate from Boston’s Berklee College of Music on May 10, 2014. Jimmy Page By Jimmy Page is one coffee table tomes no rock and roll fan’s collection should be without.
