Iron Maiden and special guest The HU brought the goods to Las Vegas as part of “The Future Past Tour.” The HU, a Mongolian band known for their unique blend of traditional Mongolian instruments and rock music, opened the show. They recently paid tribute to Iron Maiden by recording a cover of “The Trooper,” which has been well-received by fans.
Taking the stage following the iconic sound of UFO’s “Doctor Doctor,” Iron Maiden delivered a nearly two-hour performance, showcasing their incredible energy and musicianship. The stage setup, with its Blade Runner theme and streaking lights, created a mesmerizing atmosphere that transported fans into a cyberpunk world.
The setlist included a mix of classic hits and new tracks, reminding everyone why Iron Maiden has remained a metal juggernaut for nearly five decades. The pyrotechnics, choreography, and costume changes added to the spectacle, but the most impressive special effect was the genuine joy on the band members’ faces as they played throughout the show.
Bruce Dickinson is one of the most recognizable front men in metal and his stage presence is electrifying. Steve Harris who is the backbone of Maiden, shows off his powerful basslines and energetic stage presence that have become iconic. The powerhouse behind the drums, Nicko McBrain, is is both precise and powerful, driving the band’s rhythm. The guitar trio of Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers, contribute to the band’s sound and is immense. Their solos are each unique and a highlight of the show.
Starting off the show were “Caught Somewhere in Time” and “Stranger in a Strange Land,” both from the Somewhere In Time album from 1986. They were followed up by a trio of songs from Senjutsu – “The Writing On The Wall,” “Days Of Future Past,” and “The Time Machine.”
“The Prisoner” and “Can I Play with Madness” had the entire audience singing along with every word. Another song from the vaults that was dusted off was the story of “Alexander the Great.” As the evening ended, you could hear a pin drop during the singalong part of the set closer “Fear of the Dark.”
The three-song encore ensued with the performances of “Hell on Earth,” “The Trooper” and “Wasted Years.” Overall, the concert was a testament to Iron Maiden’s enduring legacy and their ability to put on a show that resonates with fans of all ages. It was a night to remember, and fans left the venue buzzing with excitement and satisfaction.
