Although rumor has it that it’s only going to be for a limited offer, AZ Central reveals that the Arizona Lottery plans to keep the scratchers coming until supplies last. As you can imagine, it was the perfect way for the state lottery to get noticed during the Halloween season. These new scratchers are a great tribute to the man who introduced shocking and glamorous horror imagery into hard rock.
The one and only “Godfather of Shock Rock” has joined other pop culture figures, including fictional characters like Willy Wonka, in Arizona’s growing roster of special scratchers. The man himself is reportedly excited about the opportunity, and he’s not alone. As executive director of the Arizona Lottery Gregg Edgar explains, Alice obviously is an Arizona icon, and he has done so much good in the community in terms of his philanthropy. So, it fit with our overall mission, which is giving back to the state of Arizona.”
The one-of-a-kind shock rock lotto scratcher was appropriately launched at the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s Rock Teen Center. Affiliated with the Solid Rock Foundation, this center was designed to teach young people who want to learn about music and dance — complete with quality equipment and capable teachers. Alice Cooper was at the launch and even took the time to jam with some of the students enrolled in the center. Cooper is famous not just for his rock horror antics, but also for his amiable and witty offstage persona, as many critics, fans, journalists, and fellow musicians can attest to. And now, Arizona is finally paying the shock rock pioneer his due tributes.
